the CCP Suppressed religions6. Since 1950, religions were suppressed by the Chinese Communist Regime.“Consistent Road” adherents became extinct. Many Catholic bishops weresentenced to over 20 year in jail. In 1950, there were 5,500 western Catholicbishops and 4,000 pastors in China and the numbers reduced to below 50 by 1955.At the same time, 20,000 believers were arrested in 1955 and hundreds ofthousands more were arrested within the following 20 years. The persecution offamily church members(arrested, detention, tortured, fined, included at least11000 die of tortured ) is still ongoing.
7. February 1954, Gao Gang(Vice-Chairman of the PRC) and Rao Shushi’s(Eastern China Party's leader )so-called anti-party clique implicated thousandsof party and army members. Most of them were sentenced, reeducated throughlabor or expelled from public employment.
8. Great Purges in 1955. It was to ferret out hiddencounterrevolutionary elements inside the government bureaucracy, militarypersonnel and schools. About 81,000 to 770,000 were arrested and many of themwere executed.

Anti-Hu Feng Movement(Hu was a leading art-literature theorist of theparty who admired Mao very much although he did not agree with Mao`s idealiterature should service to the workers peasants and soldiers only, whichignored Mao and received the punishment) in January 1955. Over 7,300 peoplewere arrested, a number of them sentenced for years and many commit suicide. Huhimself was sentenced to twenty years and persecuted to out of mind when hefinally out of jail after Mao`s death in 1976. The CCP robbed food from peasants forcedthem committed suicide even in 195510. The CCP forced collected grain crops, which resulted in 200,000 peasantscommitting suicide in 1955. In the beginning of 1955, many local reports werehanded to Mao, stating that peasants had insufficient food, ate leaves to allaythe hungry and even sold their children. Zhao Ziyang(the general Secretary ofthe CCP during Tian Anmen Massacre in June 1989) reported that officersransacked each house and stole the peasants’ grain. In Gaoyao Town, Guangdong110 committed suicide. It is estimated that In total, over 200,000 peasantscommitted suicide in 2,000 towns across the country. 57
11. Anti-Rightist movement. Tens of thousands of intellectuals werepersecuted to death during the Anti-Rightist movement in 1957. The forerunnerwas the Hungarian Revolution of 1956, a nationwide revolt against the communistregime. The revolt was suppressed by the Soviet forces. Also, in 1956, at theTwentieth Party Congress, Khrushchev delivered the “Secret Speech”, denouncingStalin’s purges.
On February, 1957, Mao Zedong gave a four-hourspeech to the National Congress of the CCP, and announced that criticism of theCCP was hoped for. Therefore, the Hundred Flowers Campaign was launched. Maosaid: “Some foreigners say we are brainwashing people. I agree. It isbrainwashing.” 58 In fact, Mao was planning to persecute intellectuals. He onlyshared his real idea with his trusted subordinates, including Shanghai Party`sSecretary Ke Qingshi. At the beginning of April, Mao told his trustedsubordinates: “Intellectuals have become too vocal. One day, they will receivepunishment. We let them speak out, let these evil people criticize us for a fewmonths.” “Throw a long line to hook a big fish. Lure the snake away from itshole. We will let those identify themselves and then punish them.” 59Mao Zedong deliberately attempted to use “let ahundred flowers bloom; let a hundred schools of thought contend” to encourage avariety of views critical of the regime and pretend that the party had an “openmind” concerning different opinions. this is hooligan act of course.

Hooligan tricky of anti-rightist movementSince the CCP seized the power, it has committed many evil crimes. Workers, peasants, merchants and students spoke out. The campaign had become too difficultto control. Mao ordered a halt to the campaign and killed the intellectualsthat criticized the CCP. The official said 554,000 people had been labeled asrightists. However, according to the recent declassified documents, 4,610,000intellectuals were labeled as rightists and middle rightists; including3,178,470 rightists and 1,437,562 middle rightists. 60 The rightists werepurged from the party and lost their human rights for 20 years! Tens ofthousands rightists died an unnatural death. Many were sentenced to labor campand were re-educated through labor. hundred and thousand of universityteachers, students were labeled as rightists and dozens executed for crimes ofcounter-revolution. Eight students from Peking University were executed. Manyrightists died of starvation and exhaustion during the Great Famine. Later, Maoreported to the central bureaucracy that in Hunan Province alone, 100,000people were criticized, 10,000 were arrested, and 1,000 were killed.61

Mao ordered to kill three middle school teachers for a student'sdemonstrationThree middle school teachers of a county in Hubei Province were charged withinciting student demonstrations and were executed. Only 1 out of 20 studentscould obtain a high school education because of budget cuts. The demonstrationwas defined as an event similar to the “demonstrations in Hungary” and wasreported nationwide. It is almost certain that Mao, Zedong personally orderedthe execution of the three teachers. They were shot the next day when Maoarrived in Hubei Province. The provincial authority hadn’t decided on the deathpenalty. The purpose of reporting the event nationwide was to intimidateprotesters and stop the widespread protest against the manufacture of atomicbombs. Funds for this manufacture was the reason for the cut in the educationbudget. 62
